I recently replaced the stock dash speakers with Kicker 40CS and front door speakers with Alpine SPR-69. Sounds like most of the volume is coming through the dash speakers. Is there anyway to reduce the volume of just the dash speakers without disconnecting them?

Thanks,

The only thing I could think of is adding a resistor to the dash speakers, actual resistance will be trial and error. Another way could be laying some type of fabric on the underside of the grill cover. Once again, that would be trial and error. If it were me, I'd start with a piece of speaker box carpet and listen to the results.

stock radio? some aftermarket radios allow you to fine tune speaker outputs. if not, i would try fading to the rears a few notches.

Hmm I've had Kicker KS35 and Alpine SPR-69's for two years now and have always heard my sound coming mainly from the doors. I put some bass blockers (300hz I believe) on the dash speakers to eliminate the annoying crackling sounds they made. Like Danny said you might try fading to the rear a bit to see if that helps.

Or, you could put the stock speakers back in and sell me your Kickers. :D

I just removed mine completely. I don't think they are very good placement up there and are to distracting playing right at the windshield. Try disconnecting them Ill be surprised if your unhappy with the result.

Check what ohms the dash speakers are, I had to add 4ohm 10watt resistors to each dash speaker to bring down the resistance to factory level 4ohm if you have the 6 speaker setup.

The kicker 1" upgrade tweeters sold by mopar will tone them down for you. I replaced them with some 3 1/2 inch kickers but I like that they are more heard.

I've got some 600hz bass blockers I'll install in the dash speaker harness. That may help a bit.

These are the 3.5" 4 ohm dash speakers I bought:

Kicker 41KSC354 3-1/2" 2-way speakers at Crutchfield.com

Get them on crutchfield and the harness adapters are free.

Did your harness adapters fit? I ordered some speakers from Crutchfield and the harness adapter don't fit. The sent me part number 12071039 (71-039c)

EDIT:

Actually I just hand to bend the pins inside the adaptor just a little bit to slide them into the stock plug. Now they work fine.

I did the same and it came down to ohm of the speakers. my 2015 dash speakers are 2ohm and all the doors are 4ohm. I ended up using the aftermarket ones I bought at 4ohm for something else and bought the Mopar Kicker 2ohm upgrade. They were much cleaner and crisp from factory but not over powering like the 4ohm ones.

adding resistors will do nothing besides potentially making the radio clip out due to an impedance load issue. the "bass blockers" (capacitors) are what you should try.
