I just received my Fox Box 12" ported box for my Ram 1500 Crew Cab. I also got 2 12' Alpine Type R SWR 12D4's. My question is, what type of amp should I be looking into getting? Im on amazon right now and im looking at a (Rockville RXD-M4 6000 Watt/3000w RMS Mono Class D 1 Ohm Amplifier Car Stereo Amp)

Another question is what ohms should i set it at? 1ohms or 4 ohms? :mario: I have amp wiring which is 4 gauge already installed from a previous set up. I feel i should just leave it a 4 ohms. What do you all think?

Alpine SWR 12D4's

Power Range: 250W - 1000 Watts
RMS Power Handling: 1000W
Peak Power Handling: 3000W

CEA Compliant Power Ratings (Rated at less than 1 % distortion) (Use these CEA ratings when matching and comparing with other CEA compliant brands such as Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, etc)

1 Ohm: 1500 Watts x 1 Channel <1% THD+N
4 Ohm: 750 Watts x 1 Channel <1% THD+N)

RMS Power Ratings: (Use these RMS ratings when comparing with great brands such as Hifonics, Earthquake, Soundstream, etc)

1 Ohm: 3000 Watts x 1 Channel
4 Ohm: 1500 Watts x 1 Channel

Peak: (The amount of power the amplifier can produce for a split second at the loudest part of a song

1 Ohm: 6000 Watts x 1 Channel
4 Ohm: 3000 Watts x 1 Channel

Would this amp be a good match for my subs?

You need an amp that puts out 2000watts RMS @ 1ohm. Ideally I would shoot for 2500watts. I would also be very careful with that amp. $155 for 3kw? Not buying that for one second. Half the power still costs more than that.

I am not up in the high power car audio industry any more... but Sundown was usually the best bang for your buck.

You will also need to upgrade to 0 gauge for that much power. Ideally I would say two runs with an extra battery for over 2kw.

i have to agree. the amp you have stated above is what i would call "pawn shop"/"flee market" JUNK.

will it work maybe/yes if you want dirty power.

Yes you can run them either 1 o 4 ohm depending on how you wire them.

As they said you can run at 4 ohms - however I am not sure why you would. You are better off with more power than less. I think either way with that amp everything will end up in smoke.

At least try to get a cea compliant amp claiming those kind of ratings.

I would get atleast 500 watts to each sub...that would be my minimum power level. 500 watts will make the type R boogy pretty well. Anything over that is simply icing on the cake.
Iam running an ARC KS1200.1 for sub duty and it makes real nice power but it's not a cheap amp.
Look into Alpine, Sundown, Image Dynamics, Rockford etc.
I have no problems running cheaper power to subwoofers (midbass, midrange, tweeters are a different story) but don't go too cheap as others have mentioned...it just wont last and it will NOT put out the power it says it does.

Thanks for the input guys. :mario: I was looking at the subs and found out there not the d4's but the d2's so they're 2 OHM's. Im probably gonna go with the JBL GTO1001EZ. :mario:

Much better amp. Just be careful not to clip your subwoofers since you are underpowering them.
