Hello everyone, i am having a issue with my 2014 ram 3500 xm radio. I called xm radio and activated the radio last night and found this problem, the sound is cutting in and out real fast to the point you can't make out anything they are saying. We have tried refreshing the radio 3x, made sure there were no obstructions, we even did the update on the software and nothing changed. the phone, radio all work fine but xm thinks the problem is my equipment, any thoughts would be appretiated.

Thanks.

dont quote me on this but i think the factory radios have the xm tuner built into them. id try checking the xm antenna connection behind the radio to make sure its secure. if your truck is still under warranty you could see if the dealer can trouble shoot this for you. good luck with it.

What type of radio ?

RA1 3.0 " nonntouchscreen

RA2 5.0 " Touchscreen

RA3/RA4 8.4" Touchscreen

If your under warranty, then as stated above let them deal with it .

If not under warranty then remove the radio ( just a couple minutes ) if you need to know how , ask here .

Thanks for the information, how does the radio come out. Interesting thing yesterday it started working, drove it to town all was good until I shut the truck off to get fuel. Once I turned the truck back on it wasn't working any more.

The center stack bezel has to be removed to get to the radio mounting screws.

Almost seems like I saw a post or two about a couple of people having a bad connection at the shark fin antenna too.

See the video posted by: oemautopartsco.com for the RAM radio upgrade. It does a great job of showing this. It's only a 10 minute job.

Hi ckkoch09,

Sorry to hear about this! You can try performing a soft reset of your Uconnect system to try and fix your concern:

"Step 1) Put your vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN) **For keyless start (push-button) vehicles: push the start button twice without having your foot on the gas or brake pedal**
Step 2) Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons (or volume and tuner knobs), at the same time, for thirty seconds.
Step 3) Let go of the buttons
Step 4) Turn vehicle off
Step 5) Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds
Step 6) Close door
Step 7) Restart vehicle
Step 8) Let the media centre load up and see if concern is still present"

If this doesn't help I would recommend visiting your local dealership for further diagnosis. Let me know if you have any additional questions!
