Hey guys, need some input!

I have a Rockford 501S amp, it has worked fine for over 5 years. Today (at a show) the sub was cutting out? Well, the amp powers up and after a few minutes cuts off, and is VERY! HOT! ....is the amp fried?

Thanks for any input!

I have ran the amp for years with the truck off ( and yes, it was off )....it has never cut off and I run 3 of them.

I had a Durango that the amp would cut out when it wasn't running. I was drawing too much power from the battery. Also, had a relay switch installed. The amp was drawing too much power, and I believe the stereo had a "safety switch" in it.

But after reading the last thread, sounds like you fried it up. I would recommend Memphis Audio. I had mine for 6 years and still going strong.

My Memphis Power Reference, stays on all the time. I have had it running at least 4-5 hours straight, no issues. Yeah it gets warm/hot, but never shuts off.
