So I have some options with the amps and headunit that I have. I have an alpine cde-9852 HU. It's older, but it works and does everything I need (although not all I want...nav...backup camera...). It only has 1 set of RCA outs.

I have 2 amps: 4 channel with two RCA ins and 1 RCA out (also has speaker level inputs) and a mono amp with 1 RCA in and 1 RCA out.

The options I see are:

1) RCA from HU to Mono amp and speaker level from HU to 4 channel amp
2) RCA from HU to Y-splitters to 4 channel amp and then RCA from 4 channel amp to Mono amp
3) RCA from HU to Mono amp and RCA from Mono to Y-splitters to 4 channel amp

#1 is how I have it currently. #3 just seems dumb. Would I lose or gain anything by doing option #2?
