Here's some pics of my head unit.
My original thought was to swap out the factory sub for a 10" in a vented FoxBox. LOC out from the HU, running to my amp. Got that wired up - and I didn't like how it sounded. Not enough thump. Damn factory head units........
So, this week I bought a new head unit. I picked up an Alpine ixa-W404, dash kit, PAC C2R-CHY4, PAC SWIJACK and an antenna adapter. Woke up this morning and started the fun of wiring. (I hate wiring).
Had some fun with getting the head unit to fit. Even though Crutchfield and anyone else shows that this HU fits.......it doesn't. Not without some modification. First you have to cut the plastic between the radio bolts, then you have to remove the top of the metal surround behind the radio. Tin snips to the rescue! (Crutchfield has since changed their website......after I sent them fools pics of the modifications that you need to make LOL)
Pics of that:
Got it all wired up, including the stupid wires to the parking brake and brake pedal..........(i'll figure out how to remove that **** later). Fired it up, sounds MUCH better!!! Programmed the steering wheel controls - works great!
And pics of the new head unit in the truck:
How do you like this deck. My friend is looking to buy it for his VW.
My sub box. Apline type Rs. 1500 watt Hiphonics amp under seat. Love this system!
Box is set up so the speaker never hits the rear seat. Sounds GREAT!
Where did you get this box? My current box has metal bars that hold up the seat from hitting the sub but it makes the seat feel like your sitting on the metal bars...it has destroyed all the foam in the seat and is ******* me off!
