I find in stop go traffic the 8hp70 8speed tranny delays getting into 2nd gear ocassionally. I find myself letting up on the throttle for fear of over-revving. I am sure sometimes it goes past 2k rpm ( will check next time) before it engages 2nd.

Anyone else get this?

I've noticed similar when idling through slow traffic. I'm sure it has to do with the CPU learning my driving habits cause there isn't any delay when I'm on the throttle a little more.

Fear of over revving with a gasser in first gear? You would have to limit the trans to first gear.
These 8 speed transmissions decide in part which gear to be in by torque demand. In stop and go traffic if your not going fast enough to warrant the next gear, it won't shift.
