2011 1500 cv axle

Going to remove and replace the wheel bearing and went to take drivers side cv axle off the differential and the whole shaft inside the differential started coming out with it. How big of a deal is this. I stopped as I don't want to damage any thing.

Were the half shaft bolts loose or on the 2011 have bolts on the half shaft?

No bolts

So the half shafts have splines that insert into the diff correct

I was under the assumption they slide over the shaft coming out of the differential.

From here on, I would get a Chilton manual or Alldata.
