The spare on my 2014 is a 17" my stock wheels are 20s .
To my knowledge the brake disk & calipers is the limiting factor . Some lift kits say 18" min due to aftermarket steering knuckles .
I think you'd be fine if you don't have a lift , I wouldn't do a positive offset , zero or NEG offset with 17" wheel should work on any stock 4th gen .
I'm no expert on wheels , many knowledgeable guys here , maybe one will chime in , I want 17s too !

Yes they'll fit just fine. My truck is a 2012 1500 4x4 big horn. Came with the 20's, I now have 17" Method race wheels on. Zero problems with install.

Some Rams come stock with 17" wheels. No issue unless you don't get the correct backspacing.

Hey noob here. Can you share what size tire you are running with your 17" Methods? I assume they are 285/70/17 but could be wrong. I have the Bils 5100 up front and want to go with 17" wheels. Thanks, Greg

17's need a certain backspacing to clear the brake components, but they will fit just fine. On a 4wd I assume as you state you have the 5100's, the truck can clear a 35" with the proper wheel.
