Can anybody post a pic of what your rpms are at running highway speeds?

I have 3.55 now and thinking of jumping to 4.10 but I wanna know what my rpms will jump up to

I'm not sure if the ratios compare CTD to 4.7/1500s..
110kmph - 1900rpm
I have 4.10s

Calculator here: Calculators

Just adjust tire height until you get an accurate RPM for you current gear set, then switch the gear ratio, and it will show you your new RPMs (assuming same tires, obviously).

Formula: Since we have no idea what tire size you are running we will assume 33's, at 70mph freeway speed, in 5th trans gear which we know is .67 ratio.

3.55 (gears) x 70 (mph) x 336 = 83496
83496 / 33 (tire size) = 2530
2530 x .67 (trans OD ratio) = 1695.22 RPM's at 70 with 3.55's

4.10 x 70 x 336 = 96432
96432 / 33 = 2922
2922 x .67 = 1958 RPM's at 70 with 4.10's

Not a very big jump IMO. I personally run around 2200 RPMs at 70 with my truck and in no way will I ever "run out of gear".

There ya go!

Thanks ramunit, I'm currently running 31s with stock 17s but plan on 33s or 35s with 20s soon I was just curious what my highway rpms would be at. I'm at about 1800 at 70 mph right now

Hopefully an R/T guy chimes in since they have 4.10 with 32" tires(well the 2011+). But I think I was at 2,000 at 70

That just dont sound right...I am running a 33 inch tire with my 05 4.7 and I am pushing 1650 RPMS at 60MPH...is the RPM difference really only 45 RPM's? I'll have to check that tonight on the way home.

Thanks for the info, I wonder if your trans gear ratio will differ from mine.. You have the 6 speed right? I have a 4.7 with 5 speed

Ah ok, maybe we got the same trans then. I'm sure it wouldn't be too far off if not

It's the same trans...the 545RFE...

As for my earlier post...the following calculation is way off for the 3.55 gears at 70 MPH...(at least according to my tach it is)

3.55 (gears) x 70 (mph) x 336 = 83496
83496 / 33 (tire size) = 2530
2530 x .67 (trans OD ratio) = 1695.22 RPM's at 70 with 3.55's

I checked mine on the interstate on the way home...I was pulling 1950 RPM with the cruise control dead set on 70 on flat highway.

i have 4.10s and 285/75s(about33s) and am at about 2100 rpms at 70... Its hard to say a 33's are 33 inches because most are + or - a few tenths(32.6 or 33.4, for an example) which can make a difference when you have tires at each end of that difference. Hope that helps you
