So I thought Id try out the 4wd this morning to make sure it worked correctly (didn't think to when I bought it, duh) before I drop it off at dealership later today (to replace tire pressure sensors).
Well upon turning it clicks, is this normal? I know w/ my other trucks it didn't...but don't know if this is norm for a dodge or not? Driving straight is fine...only turning either direction it does this. Is this something I should mention to them today too?

Yeah. the driveline binds in 4wd, so on a dry surface, turning will cause it to click. I also had a mini freakout when I tested my 4wd after level install, googled it and found out it is normal. It didnt click when I used it during heavy snow this past winter, because of tire slippage.

Google showed exact same answers for Rams and F150s.

I would take it in a field or something not asphalt and try it. How loud is the clicking? Clicking is also an indicator of a bad half shaft, though I think it would do it even in 2WD as the shaft moves either way. It's just not engaged with the transfer case during 2WD.

Yeah what cruizer said, look at your cv boots and see if there is any grease showing. 4wd on pavement on turns does a lot worse then click, it really binds as every 4wd does. Clarrify, it only clicks when in 4wd or 2wd?

I don't know if a bad half shaft would click while in 2WD, that's a good question. In theory I think it would since it's turning either way, but I could be wrong. Do you know anyone with a big yard? lol

only in 4wd while turning
sucks tho because there's no fields around me that don't have crops coming up...so road is all there is right now :/

gravel roads can work but you might still get a bit of clicking depending how packed the gravel has become

i wouldn't worry about it tho. the clicking is perfectly normal

When my halfshaft went bad in the beginning it would only click at more extreme steering angles, and when in 4 wheel drive. As the problem worsened it became more, and more constant, no 4 wheel drive, and lesser turning angle required. Eventually it got to the point where it would bind the front end when I turned much at all. I would definitely check the boot for damage, and the whole steering knuckle/control arm area for grease leakage. You can also grab onto the half shaft, and see how much play there is on the CV joint end. If there is none, you are probably fine, if there is much at all, you probably need a new CV joint.

Even if you need a new CV joint, I wouldn't get too excited as replacements are relatively inexpensive, and don't require much mechanical skill for install.
