My 15 Rebel has a recall, the axle was not properly heat treated by the factory...

Took it in Friday, 11/27, dealer said they had the part, but when doing it, they found more damage, and now have to replace the entire rear end... Besides getting assurances the rear would be shipped from Atlanta and be in NC on Saturday, 11/28, it's now 12/4 and as of yesterday, it has still not shown up...

Not so much mad, as I am frustrated, I do believe my dealer is doing the best they can and it's FCA's fault...

Anyway, FYI in case any of you run into this problem... FWIW, I was told about the recall on 11/21 (it came out 11/18)... But no one could say if it was safe to drive, got the FCA notice on Saturday, 11/28 and there it indicated (worst case) the wheel could fall off it if fractured...

Got mine the other day. Scheduled for Wednesday at the dealership. Apparently not all are affected by it. I was told they have to check and see if mine needs it done. We shall see. My buddy is the mechanic who will be working on it, so I'm not worried about getting bs'ed.

I had mine checked out on Wednesday. I guess there are 3 possible locations of where the serial number is in the axle. Mine was fortunately in a location that didn't require pulling the axle.

Yup, had mine done yesterday also. I set it up day I got the notice before they used the parts they had on hand. My dealer is awesome ( lots of trucks here :) ) so I am sure it was a good job.

i typed my VIN into one of the links i have on the RAM website and the only recall i found for my 2015 sport was the radio recall that i fixed myself.

Am i clear of this recall? How did you guys get notified?

I went in for the free oil change on 11/22 and the SA notified me... I actually got a letter from FCA the following Saturday (11/28)...

Mine went in Friday, 11/27, found out it needed the whole rear end due to bearing wear (4800 miles), it took a week to get the whole rear end and install it...

My dealer was great, it seemed FCA was having a problem getting parts to them...

I had my inspection done last Thursday. 1.5 hours to open everything up. Said I needed a new axle and it'd be done on Friday which turned into Saturday and I worked til 9pm so Monday after work. At least they gave me a '16 Blackout Express to drive around in.

Saw the bill and it cost FCA $3800 plus rental charge.

Wondered about that myself, but that's what they told him.I've done a lot of rearends over the years and never changed the bolt unless it was broke in the diff.

Not all trucks were affected, it was about 65K 2015 trucks, and I think it was between July 2015 to Oct/Nov 2015 of the affected dates...

If you have a 2/15 it wasn't in the range I was notified of...

Currently at the Dodge\Ram dealership with my 2015 RAM express with left rear axle recall.
The vehicle now has 4300 miles on odometer.
The dealership removes the axle to find the number and compares the number to a list of recall numbers.
In my case the axle has to be replaced with the updated axle.
It takes about four hours to preform the work.
Dealship has the replacement axle in stock.
Service indicated that so far 7 of 11 recalls performed required an updated axle

Took mine in this past Wednesday. It did not need to be replaced. My manufacturers date was June or July 2015, I forget which month.

Would be cool, if they just threw in the 3.92 to replace the 3.21 while they are in there.
