EVIC says brtake lkight out but its not out

My EVIC starting telling me Saturday night I have a Right rear brake light out.
I got a spare brake light bulb, but when I went to change it, it is not out. I had my wife step on brake etc. everything seems fine.

The last thing I did was remove and later install the tailgate on Saturday. the backup camera works fine. I don't think its related, and I can't remember if the tail light indicator was on before I removed the tailgate.

Anyone have experience with this problem?

I thin maybe its intermittent, however the icon comes up seemingly at every start.

I will check for the bulbs tightness, loose wire connections etc.

Good point, but...the EVIC icon shows the right rear...I will check the top light.

By any chance do you have led bulbs? If yes that might be the reason why. If not hopefully your still under warranty just take it in to the dealership and let them figure it out

It is the 3rd... same thing happened to me. My bulb was completely broken.

The EVIC showing the right brake light out is just a generic picture, it doesn't actually mean the right rear out, just that a brake light is out. The truck has no way to know which brake light is out, since the rear lights all share a similar stop lamp circuit.

it was the top light, totally burned out and I had a spare ( 191 I think) .

crisis over.

when I checked the brake lights it just didn't look abnormal.

had same issue, stumbled into figuring and fixing the 3rd light earlier this week. i too thought it was strange per evic and the 'right rear image' then wife checked etc -- after much head scratching I found the middle bulb in 3rd/cab light out.

just saw this thread by accident this morning but wish I would have searched earlier

this forum is amazing
