heres the deal. i have a plain jane express (even though its a "special edition" detroit red wings edition) ive ordered an evic cluster out of a 2012 also. My question is , for guys who have done the upgrade, is which switch set do i need? ive looked online and its totally unclear to put it mildly . i dont care about stereo controls, i have aftermarket in there , so i am totally fine without them. the switches i have now are on the left side, and its just reset and step. im guessing id need the one with up down and right arrows? also, in the 2012, do i need it flashed if i install the switch for evic myself? or is it strictly plug and play. as i said, ive researched, but everyone is split on this, and/or they have done it on other years

i dont know if this is 100% true but its what ive read since i was looking at doing this same swap. the gauge clusters on the 2009-2012 trucks store mileage in them. while the cluster itself is plug and play, meaning the evic should work, the mileage displayed will reflect what was on the truck the cluster came from, not yours. unless of course the mileages between the 2 trucks were the same. i believe the pcm on the truck also stores mileage so that would mean there would be a difference in mileage between your cluster and your pcm.

like i said thats what ive read regarding this swap which kind of put me off since i had a difficult time finding a cluster with almost the same mileage as my truck.

I have that all covered, I have a guy that will set the proper mileage. My question is more about the proper switches for the steering wheel and if I need another pigtail, or if the wiring with the regular switches that are already their work for it.

A buddy of mine is in the process of doing this same swap. Can I ask where you are going to get the cluster mileage adjusted and what it will cost? Does the 2012 also store the running and driving hours like the 2013+ trucks?

I thought maybe that was who you are using. I think his name is Dominic and I highly recommend him. I had him do my 2014. He charges 175.00 for the 13 and up premium clusters, at least the 2012 are 50.00 less at 125.00. The price seemed kind of high, though other places charge even more. All in all he said what he would do and delivered and he was very careful with it, no scratches or battle scars. One of the best upgrades I did.

DannyMK2 not sure about the 2012, but he told me I could install it and drive over there he would read the data off my computer and set it accordingly. I am in CT so I just opted to ground the truck and mail it to him, was like a 4 day turnaround.

Thanks guys, but see, everyone who's done this is either a newer 2013-2016, or like a 2010. It worries me that I don't see any 2012s pull out off

My real thing is which set of switches. I keep finding them for the newer trucks, but not for mine. I think I found them , but the part number I have shows up as unavailable

The switch you need is p/n 56046375AC, this switch replaces p/n 56046375AB. Both switches have the 4 buttons to navigate thru the EVIC. I believe the older switch p/n 56046375AB had three buttons marked with arrows and the fourth marked with the word "BACK" on it. The newer switch p/n 56046375AC has 4 arrows and is listed as the correct replacement part.

Here it is
SWITCH | Genuine Mopar | 56046375AC

Here is a thread on the other forum with a guy who changed his 2012 and claims it was PNP

Thanks man, I honestly didn't think something so straightforward, would be so convoluted to get the info on : ie all the differing opinions

A buddy of mine just did this switch, he got a 2012 cluster from EBAY for 190.00, I gave him my old EVIC switch from my 2014 (it worked) and he had the mileage set at TVandNav2Go for 100.00. He could not be happier with the way it worked out.

And yes he put my 2014 EVIC switch in his 2012

Interesting info

Here is some more interesting info; My buddy got his cluster back from TVnav2go and installed it, when he looked at the mileage it was set to 400 plus miles less than he specified. He is was not a happy camper and who could blame him.

So a quick call to them and he is told that on his particular cluster (2012) they cannot power it up and have no way to know if they did it right or not. Apparently they get it close as they can. There is a two fold problem here first they should have told him this first and upfront, second if they are going to be off they should have been off on the plus side and he could have just drove truck to match.

He sent it back and they are supposed to try again, I hope it works out for him.

Just wanted to give anyone contemplating this, the information.

My buddy got his cluster back and now is 800 miles off but this time to the plus. So he just has to keep an eye on the mileage until it matches. I still would be a little pissed myself.

I'd be very pissed off since it isn't cheap. That being said I'd rather have to keep an eye on it and catch up to the mileage lol. I have hoped to come across one in my mileage range and then just put it on a shelf until I hit the magic number(s).
