I have a 2010 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7L V8

I have to admit to not changing my oil on time recently, but...I use full synthetic and should have been ok.

On to the issue, about 2 months ago my truck would randomly die at stops. It seems to happen when the engine is cold, and when it dies the oil pressure will drop from around 50 down to 0 and the Oil Pressure light comes on.

We used our OBDII tester and it showed a P1521 code, and after searching determined that is related to:
Wrong engine oil type
Wrong engine oil viscosity
Dirty oil

So we changed the oil, the issue stopped for a bit, but then came back.
Checked online again and found a forum that stated you may have to change the oil twice to resolve this issue.
So changed the oil again. Yes I'm using the correct type and viscosity.

Since the second oil change the issue is still occurring.
Next step - swapped out the oil pressure sensor.

This seemed to stop it for 1 week, then it died twice in 1 day.

Now, purchased a new oil pump and will swap it out tomorrow as well as changing the oil a 3rd time...

Any thoughts?

Ok since last post...
She has stalled many times, but no codes any longer.

My brother thought it might have been fuel related, so pulled the fuse, reset and ran for 100 miles.
Took a few days but stalled again this morning :(

Any and I mean ANY HELP is greatly appreciated!

How's coolant? Head leaks into the oil changing oil viscocity and cleanliness?

You did swap oil pumps right?

Stalls when running or only at idle?

PCV valve?

We actually didn't change the oil pump, it was a huge hassle and not enough time and space in the garage to get it done.

Coolant is good, checked all fluids and all are good and at correct levels.

Stalls when idling, oddly stalled the other day when I was pulling into a parking spot.
I did notice that when the dip in RPMs occurs, usually close to when it stalls, the lights dim a little.
Going to try resetting the PCM this weekend, and see if that helps any.

Kind of running out of ideas, still no codes at all.

This maybe a stupid thought but wouldn't an improper air supply cause stalling as well? Yet it has nothing to do with oil, but since you're not getting an error code....have you tried changing the air filter lately?

I'm having rpms and oil psi drop but no stalling. Also lights dim sometimes. I read online that cam/crank sensors could cause the problem. I ordered them already and will replace as soon they arrive. Were you able to find a fix to your problem?

Replaced PVC valve, Crank positioning sensor, cam positioning sensor.
The transmission fluid is correct (not low or anything between cold and hot marks).
Stalls only when the engine is warm (operating temperature).
Don't know where to look next

Battery/altanator?
Since these things won’t even attempt to crank when the battery is a smig low, and tou day the lights dim way down before dying, maybe have the battery and altanator tested? Just a thought.

I actually wanted to replace battery before the cold weather because I had a feeling the truck does not start lately as it did in the summer.
I had truck for a year and I have no clue when the battery was replaced by a previous owner.
Do you have a tip on how to test the alternator without visiting a shop? I thought about it also...

Today, when I was filling up the windshield washing fluid, I heard a hissing sound from the driver side of the engine. I guess I have a vacuum leak somewhere.
And I have similar symptoms to the vacuum leak.
Truck starts to hesitate and RPMs go up and down only when warm. Stalling also when warm. That's when all sensors start to work. When the engine is cold it reads only MAS readings. Hopefully replacing a hose will fix it.

I replaced a throttle body last night.
It didn't do a thing, sadly.
I read online that some guys had some good experience with cleaning/replacing MAP sensor and O2 sensors.
Will try that and post the update.

Have you tried replacing or testing the battery yet?
