Alright guys, I'm losing my mind. This is the second day I've had my brakes torn down after work and no progress.

Symptoms:

It only does it when the brakes have some heat in them, even just a quick drive through the neighborhood and back.
It only does it when I apply light brake pressure. If I press harder it stops.
There is no noise when the brakes aren't applied.

I went to Auto Zone and bought some special silicone something-or-rather that is specfically for greasing the backs of pads as multiple people suggested. I did this with all 8 pads and re-assembled everything. Took the truck out for a drive again to get the brakes warmed up...I thought everything was great until I pulled onto my street and slowed down to pull in the driveway...needless to say they are squealing just as bad.

So far I've:

-Verified pads are all in good shape with TONS of life left.
-Checked that there are no pebbles, rocks, etc stuck anywhere.
-Pulled the one dust shield away from the rotor that could have been the noise and verified that the others were nowhere close to the rotor.
-Greased the backs of all the pads and other metal to metal contact points.

Please help me...it's making my practically new truck sound like a beater at every stop.

Is it possible to pinpoint which wheel its coming from, or all of them?

It is still under the 3/36 warranty, so the dealer is an option.

I THINK it's the front left, but it's so high pitched it's almost impossible to really pinpoint...every time I have my wife drive it so that I can listen from outside I think it's a different one.

Yeah, I would start having her drive it, and you hang your head out the window of both sides and see if it gets louder on either side, and see if you can find the wheel. If not, send it to the dealer.

That's what I meant above...I've already done this and just stood in my driveway/in my street because it all happens at low speeds. I guess the dealer is my only option...I was just hoping to avoid the headache.

I've got the same symptoms on my 2005, even tho the brakes only have about 5k on them. Interested to see what they find on yours.

I figure at the very least they can say, "We checked everything and it seems to be your brake pads (or whatever.)" Then I can address it.

I actually had a few things I needed to have looked at anyway, so this is a good way to keep me from procrastinating.

are these the original brake pads? I had this happen to me with new brakes on other vehicles and after some time i guess they wore in and it stopped

hmm, I had constant squeaky brakes on my neon years ago, and the dealer said they just had squeaky brakes, that it wasn't a mechanical problem. Never had that issue on my rams tho.

i would suggest taking the pads off and scuffing them up. sometimes they get glassed over and that will produce a squeek. id also scuff the rotors while your at it.

Same issue on mine dealer scuffed everything up. Lessened the problem quite a bit but it's starting to redevelop. I think they just use crappy quality brake pads and rotors.

My brakes are doing the same thing. It's super high pitched and incredibly annoying. About the only thing I've done is hit them good with a pressure washer and doused in brake cleaner. I thought it might just be mud buildup from the last time I went mudding but I doubt there would still be mud as much as I've cleaned it. Not
that I'd trust them to do any work, but I have an NTB close by I may stop in there and get them to look at it. It's just the front brakes I'm 90% sure.

I realize this is an old thread, what was the outcome? My 2016 RAM 1500 is doing the same thing at low speeds only

My 2014 is doing the same thing. Dealer said to just swap the pads from inside to outside. I thought this was a garbage answer. Took it to my trusted local shop, they inspected everything and said it was no big deal. Guessed that the pad material is heating up and causing it to squeak. Only real solution would be to by better pads (not sure if ceramic or EBC pads would be better). I'll drive it as is, until I actually need pads. Too bad this means I will have to drive with my truck screaming like a banshee coming to a stop for the next couple of years. lol
