Just replaced the water pump on my 2007 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi.

While allowing the truck to idle to warm up to thermostat temp we noticed that the truck was not and did not blow heated air. I did verify that after the thermostat opened (level in radiator dropped as expected) and after topping radiator I can feel the heat being displaced and yet the cabin did not receive heating.

Questions:
1. In which manner does this model use to control the volume of heated water to pass through the coil (aka Heater Core)? Manual Valve determined by temp range dial setting? Modulated by temp control?

2. Is there a specific designation to the heater hoses? i.e. Supply vs Return. Is this system sensitive in this manner?

3. What is the overall level of difficulty in replacing the heater core?

Thanks.
