I've had a shake in my truck at highway speeds, usually starts at 70 mph, and worse as I get faster. It feels like it's comping from the rear passenger side. I switched the wheels back there and it made no difference. Rotors were replaced and that made no difference. All new break shoes and pads all around. Some wheel weights DID fall off the wheel that was on that side, but I moved it to the driver side, didn't seem to make much difference either.

Could it be a bent axle shaft or something? It's really annoying.

Well my bud watched while it was shaking and he said the front end looks like it moves more. Really feels like the back though.

Usually, front end vibration can be felt most prominently in the steering wheel.

That said, a bad axle bearing can cause vibration. Look for oil droplets or spray in the fender well.

Could be a bad u joint in a driveshaft or one of the weights could have fallen off of the driveshaft

Is there any way to tell if it is the driveshaft?

Also I replaced my parking brake shoes and brake pads and didnt notice any leaks. I didn't think to check for play on the passenger side though.

Could it be my cv joints in the front end? I know the driver side has play on the axle side.

If you want to check the u-joints in the drive shaft, just crawl under the truck and try and turn it with both hands. Make sure the engine is off and the parking brake is on. You should not have any play in u-joints.

When you put it in gear do you hear a "clunk" sound by chance?

Put a floor jack under the pumpkin and lift the wheels clear of the floor and have someone spin her up while watching for the shake. Also can check the driveshaft at the same time. Needless to say be careful or at least take a video of the crash.

Yes I do, and I have check everything. I had a friend shift in an out of drive and reverse, and the clunk appeared to come from in the pumpkin itself. Like the gears are shifting. If that makes any sense. I will check again when I can.

Can you move the pinion up and down? I had a shake in mine along with some serious noises and the pinion bearing ended up quitting on me

When checking the joints make sure the ebrake is set and the trans is in neutral. You don't mention having a DTT differential but they develop some backlash overtime. Are you leaking from the pinion or tailshaft?

I went thru this for 2 years and was ready to sell the truck. If the vibration is NOT in the steering wheel put your left leg knee against your door panel at hwy speed and if it the door panel constantly whacks your knee and you put a drink or coffee in the cup holder and it looks like the coffee is at sea state 5 and wants to jump out You can be pretty sure one or both your half shafts up from are just plane wore out. I only discovered this after having to change a shaft during my shakey days and noticed the shaking had dissapeared about half, so thats when it dawned on me, changed the other and problem solved, smooth as a caddy, no more spilling coffee, kep the truck since. This is a possible cause of your problem, good luck. If you have 120 K miles its probably true.

That must be it. I know the driver side is worn out, but so is the axle shaft. Ugh.

I did a quick check on the rear of the drive shaft. This is what I get. It doesn't seem to be the u-joint itself, but through the pinion.

Anybody watch the video I posted. I don't think this is the cause of the shake, but is it a problem?

Well then maybe there isn't anything. What's happening is I put the truck in neutral, then I twist the drive shaft. The u-joint doesn't move in any way other than it should. But the whole pinion spins slightly with the shaft. If you see what I mean.
