Under the hood i have a warning sticker that says my truck is equipped with a remote start sytem. I bought the truck used and i dont have the original keys. Does that mean i have all the equipment for a remote start system and i just need to get a key fob programmed?

It is possible, 05 is when the factory remote start was first available in the Rams. You'd have to see if you have the module(s) under the dash for it or have someone plug in a DRBIII and see if it shows up in the bus.

do you see an antenna at all and have you tried to hit lock 3X on the keypad? It also could have been removed when it was brought to the dealer or lot, a lot of places remove the brains and wiring so they dont have to warranty it or have issues when they sell the car. Maybe they removed it but didnt think of removing that sticker. As an installer, I never put that sticker anywhere but the garbage.

Where would the antenna be. Also I have a lot of stuff under the dash that doesn't look stock including an off and on switch I haven't figured out what goes to. I also have a gray wire going from under the dash to the front of the truck that looks aftermarket because of the length

Trace the on/off switch back to whatever it plugs into. More likely than not, that's the valet switch for the remote start. The wire running to the front probably goes to the switch that detects an open hood and disables the remote starter.

Exactly what was said.
The antenna usually gets run up the A-pillar and mounted at the top of the windshield or hidden up there under the headliner BUT there are some that do not have antennas like that and some that are just factory add on that dont have an antenna. Like the previous post said, I would try to follow the wires you see.

Traced the wires back to a valet 561r.

There you go, that is a remote start. Old system but none the less a remote start. If you are 12 volt inclined, you can get the parts yourself that you may need or bring it to a shop and see if they can get it going for you. If you do bring it to a shop they will try to upgrade you and tell you its old and youre better off with a new system. You should follow all wires and see where they go coming out of the brain. There should be some other type of box for the bypass as well.

So if all the wires are going where they need to what would I need exactly to get it working. I know I need a replacement remote and program it to the box but is that it.

Need to be sure there is some type of antenna to receive the remotes commands, program the buttons to make sure they function from the remote. The older systems required programming of what the buttons did, I am not sure if this is one of the systems. I think that is about it really.

Awesome looks like I have a project after work. Also I traced the gray wire from the box to under the hood but found it was clipped but there is some kind of black piece on the wire that has been taped up is that the hood sensor or could that be the antenna

Gray wire coming from a 5 pin connector on the module? That would be the hood pin wire. If it's not connected to anything, the truck will start. You just won't have the safety feature and it will start even with the hood open.

Like was said, it is not common for the gray wire to get hooked up in just the remote start function, I only mainly do it for alarms... its not needed.
There is a black piece taped to the grey wire? I would not even worry about it. Or is it a piece from something else?

I've never been one to advocate safety and all that, but if you're gonna get it running, install the hood switch. They're cheap as hell and its already wired. Trust me, the first time you're leaned over in the engine bay working on something and you press against your keys in your pocket and that thing fires up with your hands all in the vicinity of the serpentine belt, you'll wish you had installed that switch.

Does anyone know where I could get a wiring diagram from. That would make tracing these wires and making sure they are wires correctly way easier

Just a quick update because I feel like an idiot. You asked if I had an antenna for the box. Well since i bought the truck 3 years ago I've been staring right at it and didn't know it. There is this black piece stuck to my window behind the rear view mirror with a wire coming out of it. I always thought it was something to do with the overhead display

That definitely sounds like an antenna, did you follow the wires back?
Can you post a pick of the antenna?
You may just need a remote then if all parts are hooked up. You can find a remote online or go to a car audio place and see if they have one to program to your system.

I'm not sure how to post pics but I'll email it to you. But I haven't traced the wires yet. Beer seasons coming around so these 12 hour days are killing me. I'm gonna trace them this weekend.
