I just got a 2008 Power Wagon Reg Cab with the 6sp tranny.
Any and all info i need to know would be great! It has 12,700 miles and was built 07/08 I think.

The one question I need answered is when do most of you guys shift? (RPM) wise...I kept finding my self lugging the motor...I did not want to really wind it up...I wanted to save fuel!

Also I read Max torque is at 4200 RPM...does it drop off after that? I ask because it said Max HP is at 5200 RPM...So I did not know if I should wind it up to 5200 before shifting if I am pulling some weight...

Again please tell me all that you can..or things I need to know about this truck!

I just got rid of My 01 F-250...so I am new to dodge...TIA! Garth

feel free to rev that motor. the hemi is NOT a torque motor. when pulling a load, feel free to take it up to 4500 or 5k. regular driving around town without a load shift between 2500 and 3k.

Im already thinking this guy is gonna fit right in!

As far as your questions.... Pretty much what AF said, you're gonna have to wind'er out when you gotta decent load, but 3k should be about right for normal DD shifting. Of course there are variables involved, like hills and such. If you're going up a hill while needing to shift, take it on up the rpm range so when you shift, you're already in the upper rpms in the next gear for the hill.

Im assuming we don't need to tell you how to drive a stick, so I'll shutup now :D Welcome to RF, and post them pics up asap!!!

Welcome to RF!! As everyone else said it's like driving a normal stick. I always shifted in lower rpm myself but that was just me. Everyone has their own driving style. As for the HP And TQ numbers that's how it's supposed to be. You make you max TQ at as low an rpm as possible for pulling heavy loads from a stop. The HP is a speed number you will need that for passing and what not on the highway.

check out the photobucket tutorial in the new members section to help you post your pics.

Never really used 1st gear in my truck unless i was creeping through traffic, towing, or on a steep hill, but 2nd is a quick gear, 3rd was a long gear in that truck, could pull out on a roll with that gear. Sometimes when I was on the highway i'd be in 5th gear and forget I had another to go.

For my truck (3.73's) in 6th gear it would run about 2500 rpm at around 70mph on the highway.

Towing, yes take her up to 4500 5k if needed.. These hemis make all their power up there.
When you get real used to the truck and how it revs and where it likes to be shifted, you wont need to use the clutch! ha.
