Hey all. My 97 2500 5.9 V8 with the 8,800 LB GVW needs drivers side ball joints. Rock Auto lists options for a 4,500 LB front axle weight rating and a 4,850 LB weight rating. However, one of the ball joints listed (supposedly) fits both axles.

After some research, because of my 8800 GVW, I have the 4,850 LB axle.

Can I use ball joints for the 4,500 LB axle? They're a bit cheaper and im a broke college kid.

Its Dana 60, by the way.

Eh the 4500 lb is a dana 44 axle featured underneath the 5.9 v8 it's the 2500 LD not HD. You sure you have the 4,850 axle? Most 5.9 2500 have the the dana 44

No most have the d60. The d44 in 2500s was a 94 to really 95 LD 2500v thing that not many were made and they quit doing. Most everything was d60s front and rear for the 2500 v8s
