Hello Everyone,

I'm personally from the 4th Gen Crew, but I have an uncle with a 2nd Gen with an issue.

2000 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2

He changed the fuel pump recently since his OEM finally went bad....

The other day he was driving it and the truck died out of nowhere.
He couldn't get it to turn back on,, it would just crank over.
Its not the fuel pump because you can here it turn on with the key turned forward.
The dash doesn't have a check engine light either.

I first thought it was the PCM going out.

But then the truck turned on the next day and stays on now and seems to be fine.
But then it did it again that it just died out of nowhere.
He said when he turns the key on, the fuel gauge will not go up and it will not turn on at all.
It just cranks over.
But then he will wait a while, turn the key one, the fuel gauge will read the gas and it will turn on like nothing.

Anyone had this issue?

Does it sound like the ECU going out?

Thanks

If this wasn't a problem before he installed the new fuel pump, than it sounds like the new fuel pump has a bad pin within the electrical connectors or maybe a wire was pinched during installation. Might want to visually inspect the wiring & if it looks good, I would replace the fuel pump.. again.
