Relative will be handing down a 2001 dodge 3500 dually 24vlave, H.O. Engine.

Original everything besides basic part replacement.

Is there anything i need to look out for maintenance wise? It runs fine. I will use this as a toy for now as i have a new 3500 SRW with a 6.4.

Thanks for the info and discussion. Im open to hear anything.

EDIT: he used it to tow at the max rating frequently for the first 5 years.

Standard stuff like full fluid and filter changes, verify suspension/steering is up to *****. Other than that thats a pretty reliable combo overall. I know there waa some fueling stuff with the HOs but i don't know anything specific, jlbayes would be a better advisor on that.

Fuel pressure, no less than 14psi at wot throttle. Everything else is typical 2nd junk crap, ball joints, track bar etc.

I'd service all the boxes including the PS system, bleed and fill the brake system, check brake pads and shoes, lube the axle bearings, check the front suspension - especially the track bar which is a known weak area, lube all the hinges, change belts and hoses, flush and fill the cooling system and check the truck over for obvious leaks.
