4WD issue on 2001 Ram 1500

Hi guys, first post on here. Just bought a 2001 Ram 1500 SLT today, love the truck. The only issue is that when it's in 4WD, the indicator light doesn't come on and it appears that the driveshaft is turning but the front wheels aren't engaging. The truck has been sitting for about 5 months the guy said, so I'm not sure where to start looking on this thing. Any ideas from you guys would be appreciated, I hope it's nothing serious, this truck is badass!! Thanks guys

First thing to do is Dl the 2001 FSM here http://www.ramforum.com/f77/2nd_gen_service_manual-986/

Got to page 103 and start to read, most likely its the cad or vac lines.

If you have problems understanding the fsm just ask and someone will chime in to help.

Weird, your 4WD light doesn't come on and mine flashes when in 2H.

Let us know what you find out.

its vac. actuated, check for leaks.

Was having this problem about a month ago. Turned out one of the o rings on the vac actuator failed killing the vacuum. Ran down to AA bought a o ring assortment pack and put a new one in. Has been working perfect since.
