Found a 98 2500 5 speed V10 at a good price. It has 270k miles. How long of an average life do the V10s and tranis have? Any issues I should look for that is model specific? Not that it matters, but what kind of fuel mileage do these have? Thanks in advance and hope to be joining the ranks soon.

Well Welcome to RF! A 5 speed is usually more reliable in terms of lasting as long as it's taken care of and always has had good gear oil. The V10 is going to be a gas hog. No way around it. I have heard good numbers of 10 or 12 mpg.
