Went from factory 16" wheels to 20" wheels. Now speedometer is off. Reads about 6 mph slower than actually going. Whats the cheapest option to calibrate it? Also, does this mean my odometer is off as well?

Its a 1999, 2wd, 5.9L, automatic.

Then there's a cheaper way than hypertech for you. Gotta be a cheap tuner you can use

Hypertech speedometer calibrator is about $250, from what I am seeing online. Was hoping for a cheaper solution, but maybe Im just out of luck!

I was going to use hypertech because I have a 16' and I can't use a tuner without other mods. You should be able to figure something out cheaper. Just search for tuners for your truck.

The older Superchips 3715 or 3815 will do it and can usually be found under $150-200, I had found one for $75 off ebay and sold it for $100 when I got a SCT

The easiest way is just remember that its a bit off. Other than that, i'm pretty sure you can have the ABS module (thats what interprets the VSS on the 00-01s I think its the same for the 99s) programmed with the PCM when you tune it from people like Flyin Ryan.

I Just remember when the speeds are or just use your gps. If you have one. Mines off around the same with my 16" wheels and 33" tires. I had thought my mpg would go down but with the tires and a few other upgrades I have been getting a steady 20mpg on the highway. With the 2001 anyways. My 96 got around 14 mpg if I was lucky. Same truck same engine but the minor things like injectors programing etc...

Either 98 or 00+ can go to the dealer to have the "rear pinion factor" adjusted but it might be 00+ only. Otherwise a SuperChips you can find cheap is the easiest.

Myself, i use superchips. LITTLE KNOWN FACT! You can still use the SuperChips or Edge tire size adjustment when sct programming is installed as sct does not have anything to do with that part.

Seriously? Damn I wish I had known that before I sold my superchips. I've just been using my gps since I have a sct now

I looked in the FSM, and I see nothing that speaks of how to calibrate the speedometer. Am I missing it?

Want to ask again, you mentioned printing the page from the FSM and handing it to them and say "do this". But, I dont see how to calibrate the speedometer due to tire size in the manual. Am I just overlooking it?
