So yeah... My '98 Ram 1500 Sport with a 5.2 which has run faithfully all year long decided to die on me on Christmas Eve of all times.

It has been taking a bit longer to start than I like but I put that down to the cold here. Driving home, it suddenly started losing power, gained it back and lost it a few more times before the engine quit for good. I am getting spark to the coil and when I sprayed starting fluid into the air cleaner for a few seconds it ran then died.

So I am guessing fuel pump?

Fuel pump, fuel filter or an evap/vacuum leak at the intake manifold would be my guess.

One other thing...how cold is it where you are?

It sounds like the fuel pump.

I'd guess fuel pump. You can try a fuel pressure test to see if anything weird shows up.
