I had those...and the cooler started to pull through my A/C evap..you can see the grooves in it in my pic.
Thus the brackets... and I believe you could bolt your new cooler to the old mount with some gas tank strapping.
I put mine out front because I believe these transmissions need all the cool air they can get!
