I purchased my 2001 ram 1500 laramie edition last saturday. The dealer that had it gave me the 2 keys but no key fob. It has power locks and such. How would i find out if the truck had a key fob but the previous owner didnt pass it on to the dealer.

It doesnt have heated or power seats. But it does have the dimming rear view mirror and heated mirrors. Power locks and windows, so even if it doesnt have a key fob, would it be hard to get the whole system for it?

Get a build sheet like MoparMagic stated. You can have power locks and windows but not keyless entry. Not uncommon at all.

I called dodge today and they said the truck does not have the keyless entry feature. But to me, it's pretty much a must have. So now my question is, what is the best way to go about making it keyless entry?
Moparmagic, you stated above about the ctm? What do I need to do to upgrade it? Thanks for the help guys!!

Ok guys, so i bought a full keyless entry system from a company called panther. It shipped today and i am expecting it on the 29th. Is there any wiring diagrams around here for adding a keyless system to the 2nd gen trucks? Or atleast a list of the wires so i know which wire to splice to which. Thanks all!

^agreed and the kit you purchased should come with a minimalistic wiring diagram at the least if all else fails get a copy of the fsm from off here and look up the diagrams at the back to see which wires will need to be spliced into

I know that this is an old thread, but I have a question that comes up here. I have a 1996 that I'm buying from my girlfriend's mom. She is the 2nd owner and knows very little about the truck. I bought a key fob for the keyless entry, however, I am unable to program it. The instructions say to either jumper pins 1 and 4 on the data port or send a green wire under the dash to ground (paraphrasing) to program it. I have no wire going into pin 1 on the data port. Does that mean that this truck didn't have the option for keyless entry, or is pin 1 something different that is still not on the truck?

I bought my 202 Ram 1500 a few months ago and I love it! The first owner (I am the third) ripped out all the wiring for the overhead console so the trip computer has no wire harness going to it at all, the lights don't work at all and the Dome light does not work. I removed the console and the drivers side pillar cover to discover all the wiring is cut up/spliced and badly messed up. The white connector from inside the dash is there but the top half connector leading to the overhead console is gone. How can I view the correct wiring diagram?

I did not know that Ram trucks before 2009 came with anything but a Key

In 2009, the ignition switch was moved off of the steering column & put inside the dashboard.
