I'm looking to buy a 2nd gen truck 4x4. I like the off-road package looks, what are the pros and cons? Should I stay away from these trucks and look at regular model ones? Opinions welcome.

Also... if you wanted to lift them, aren't most lifts not compatible with the off road packages? Or do you just remove the factory lift, then install the aftermarket one.

Another pro, the off road rims sell pretty easy if you want to upgrade to new rims

Buy it!!

2nd gen off road are some bad ass trucks

4.10 with limited slip diff is very nice

If im not mistaken, all off road models were 360s...which is nice

Buy it, then ill buy your factory off road 17" wheels from you!!:happy107:

OREs could come with either V8.

You can use normal lifts on them you just don't get as much lift

Thanks for the input. Looks like I'll be looking hard for the ORE truck, but will not pass up a clean regular Ram.

This is correct. The trucks come factory 2" higher than non ORE's, so a 5" lift will net them 3" of lift. Some companies advertise for this, like BDS. Other companies do not, so you just have to take into account that you will not gain the advertised lift height.

ORE's hold their value better than standard Ram's do, so don't be afraid to pay more for one, especially if it's a sport model.

Thats a clean truck but a but over priced. Not only are you paying 9k, but you have taxes and the fees they charge on top.

I know its a whole different side of the country but here in AZ I almost bought an 01 dodge very similarly equiped for $4000. It only had 92k miles and was in great condition.

Way too much for a truck that's 15 years old.
