what are my options for upgraded steering parts?

can I get 2500/3500 ram parts and swap it out?

mine isnt bad, but I'd like something stronger. plus I swear my tie rod is bend.

been reading on a diesel site about upgrading track bar and the tie rod/ draglink to 3rd gen moog.

also, the steering gear box...
do I get a reman. from auto part store for $160 with a lifetime warrenty, plus get the HBS steering brace?
or do I get a redhead built box for $300+ and have to skip the HBS brace?
I plan to do the gear box very soon, within the next few weeks.
the other, later down the road

I'm thinking long tern reliability for the front end. I have had my share of death wobble problem with the jeep. I'll drive this truck in the ditch and walk away before dealing with that again.

I'd go with a reman'd unit and the brace. It's my understanding that the redhead units are just rebuilt with beefier than stock parts, right?

I highly recommend the DT ProtoFab gear box brace / Trac Bar replacement.

I had both on my 1500 4x and loved them.

You can indeed get the parts for certain year 3500's to replace the stupid weak 1500 steering, Get over on Pirate 4x4 and search for it. I had the part #s in the past, but deleted them when I sold the truck.

The people at DT ProtoFab are great to work with. Very friendly. 2 Thumb Up!

As I understand it, the only difference between a 3500 2nd gen box and a 1500 gear box is that the 1500 box is a variable ratio box.

Redhead gearboxes are worth every penny unless you are selling your truck. They are that much better than just a rebuild of an already worn unit.

One mod I love is the 98.5 one ton crossover steering swap I did. It's a bolt in swap that improved feel, response and is easier to align.
