So today me and my buddy after work attempted to extract my fill plug for my transfer case which turned into an epic fail. The fill plug has been stripped out since I got the truck and I haven't messed with it til now. It's had a slow leak and I think its down extremely low which is causing my 4WD to be a pain to shift into. So we're in the back lot of the dealership drilling the plug to get the extractor bit into it and he goes, is that a crack? SERIOUSLY!!! I look closer and sure enough there's a crack in my case. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all...

So he told me to go buy a plug and a couple quarts of ATF from Orielly's and we'll do it at his house tomorrow. Fine with me. As far as the crack I guess I'll just keep adding fluid. Anyways, I run down to Orielly's and tell them what I need and the guy looks at me like he has no clue which plug it takes so he gave me 2 to choose from and I said just give me both I'll bring back which one doesn't fit since for both was only 5 bucks so no big deal. I call him and tell him the 2 they gave me and he tells me that he doesn't think either will fit, freaking awesome. So I call the local Dodge dealership and they tell me they have a plug in stock. It costed me a whopping .86 cents with my discount threw work. So I guess I'll be looking around for transfer case's and if anyone has a gently used one let me know.

Sorry about the essay I've written but I just needed somewhere to vent, my stress level is threw the roof and I had to tell someone....

Wow man that stinks. And no problem here we all need to vent sometime. But as a heads up curse words in a thread title could get an admin or mod attention. Not like we care that you use them. Just and FYI if ya get a PM that's probably why. But hey the rules may change.

Anyway hope ya can find a good T-case. I'm guessing that is where the crack is. That is really crappy.

Thanks Tony and I realized there might be an issue after I sent it threw, sorry Mods/Admins. I'm just so frustrated right now and Zach that's the plan tomorrow on my lunch break. Hopefully we can get a discount at work cause for a transfer case with 113,000 from a salvage yard they want 652.00....

Man it really sucks. When I get something fixed it seems like something else has to break. It's a never ending cycle...

$600 for a T-case seems really steep. We sourced one in Denver a couple years ago for $150 with ~150k on it.

I would recommend (if you can swing it) to have it 'rebuilt' (fresh bearings, new chain etc) before installing it. Nothing worse than doing a crappy job 2x. I think a master rebuild kit is like $120?

Thanks for the support guys. Luke did it say how many miles were on it? Ash Grove is right outside Springfield and my mom was talkin about taking a day trip down there. Might be worth checking out if it has a decent amount of miles on it

Hey had an idea! (This is rare lol)

Was on the phone with the KCMO pick n pull searching for a molding for my Crown vic project/money-sucker, and for ***** and giggles called them back, they have like 4-6 94-01 rams, not sure about 4x4's but a t case is 130-ish + tax. Not sure how far you are from Kansas City but its an idea!

The number

816-231-1618 or try 1344. My phone shows the 1618 but the website says 1344 as the last 4 digits?

I'm assuming the crack is in the back half of the case? I would look into just buying the half & rebuilding it myself. Even a new back half shouldn't be close to $600.

No problem man! I know what its like to be in this kind of a situation, it blows! haha.

Don't take it as gospel but you can search it on their website (Which I did before I posted this becuase the talent pool at Pick n Pull is hit and miss lol) and it showed 5 1500's from 94-01. Wish it would say 4x4 or no though. You have to be really specific with thier inventory system, though

When you go and search try "1500" Ram 1500 "W150" "D150" thats how I found my stuff at the Indiana yard.

Good luck brother!

George
