So i just picked up a 2000 1500 short bed with a 5.2 and nv3500. On the test drive it drove pretty well but on my way home i got a little sideways on a turn and now my trans is locked in first gear. Put the shifter in neutral and let the clutch out and its still in gear. Any help on what it could be? Hopefully an easy fix so i can start dailying it. Thanks

Sounds like a broken reaction plate maybe. That's the most common issue on nv3500s, if it is I can be fixed without pulling the tranny

It's pretty much common practice for new members to post pictures of their wife and/or sister in law.

So i googled, and i quote "2000 dodge 1500 nv3500 reaction plate" and didnt find anything. I feel like an idiot but when it comes to transmissions i am an idiot.

Reaction plates are in the automatic transmissions. I cant find any reference to them in the manual section of the service manual.

Do you feel any resistance when moving the shifter? Ie the forks sliding to push the gears.

Also I would check your clutch, it might be staying engaged, from a bad ***** cylinder. When I replaced my uncles clutch he had the same issue. When I opened it up the clutch springs were all inside the bell housing.

What exactly is going on. So far, you hit the clutch and put it in neutral, yet it still moves forward when you let off the clutch.

What happens when you put it in reverse? Can you push the clutch all the way down and floor the engine without holding the brakes and have the truck not move? Can you shift into other gears? Is there any grinding or grating sounds? Is there much effort needed to shift between gears?
