first post, picked up a 2000 1500 with the 3.9 v6 with only 25k miles. was a military truck so it spent its life driving around on base, truck is in great condition aside from a beat up bed, new balljoints, new shocks, new fluids and a new fuel pump and it drives a brand new truck. so far i have installed a bakflip bed cover, driving and backup lights, tinted windows and today i put on some 17x8 alloy wheels and 265/70/r17 tires that i got on CL.

truck is a daily driver, will tow a wave runner on occasion.
would like to change the gears, thinking 4.56. tires arn't that much larger, but with only a v6 i would like the extra torque. being in hawaii i'm never driving over 60 and it does have overdrive. good idea? all opinions, theorys and public scorn welcome. mahalo.

nice truck. super low miles too.

i think 4.56's would be great for you. especially if you are gonna tow some.

whats that parked in front of your ram? ramcharger?

the stock tires were a pathetic 225/75/r16 on factory steelies. had to go. i can feel the difference but its not that bad. wasnt too concerned about the power loss with the tires, but more the general lack of with the v6.

good eye, 88 ramcharger, its waiting for me to get time and money to finish a d60 front and rear swap. i'm not allowed to put any more money into it untill i get some other issues resolved. soon i hope....

Welcome Good sir!!! Nice lookin 2nd gen. I will agree the gear upgrade would be nice. You probably have the 3.55 in there now. a 4.56 would be a good upgrade but so would a 4.10 and still keep some mpg. lol
