Long story short motor in my 01 1500 5.9 went out. I bought a 99 1500 5.9 parts truck with a good running motor an trans in it. Had a guy swap motors for me.
Got the truck back last night, it has a cel with code p1281, a no bus an the theromstat gauge is not working.
I did a little bit of checking. The motor out of my 01 has only the sensor/sending unit combo for the thermo in one spot. The motor from the 99 has the sensor an sending unit in 2 spots an only have one wire to hook up.
So could i just swap the one sensor/sending unit into one spot on the new motor an plug it in an help solve most of that or what do I need to do.

Quick update:
I swaped the sensor on the motors.
The cel comes on an the no bus as well but not as fast. Before as soon as a cracked it would come on, now its 30sec or later that it comes on.

I noticed that he used the computer from the other truck, so if I put the org computer back that might get both to turn off.
worth a try.

You are going to have to rely on Dapper for this one, I can't remember the rule for engine and PCM/harness swaps right now.

I went an swapped the original pcm back in. Started it up an no cel or bus. So glad about that!
Now just need to get a good rebuild kit for the 360 with pistons to rebuild my original motor.
