Does any one know for sure the nut size that holds the hub on to the rear axle on a drum brake 1999 Ram 2500 4x4 with a Dana 80 rear end????
I goggled it & I have read everything from 2.5" square cornered nut to a 2 9/16" rounded corners, then even a 2 11/16" & who knows what kind of corners. I need to replace my axle seals & since I live in the sticks & have to travel 75 miles to even get parts one way. I would like to make sure I get the right socket the first time.
Thanks

Nobody has ever changed the rear seals on a 2nd Gen. I read that is a problem area that updated seals were made.

2 9/16 is the size rounded is the more common socket and that will work just fine. The reason the edges are rounded is they are usually made from stamped steel rather than cast. medium duty trucks and semis use the same style of axle nut socket. QT1009
