I've seen a lot of different answers on what fluid to use in a nv4500 transmission. I just want a straight forward answer on what kind of fluid to put in my trany that won't screw it up

Gear oil. I believe 80w90 but don't quote me on that. Double check what the factory service manual says, you can download it from one of the stickys in the diy section

Dapepper is pretty close. The New Venture rebuild manual calls for 75w90 synthetic gear oil. They recommend either castrol, mopar, or GM Goodwrench.
They claim that anything else will cause faster wear on the carbon composite syncros. How true that is, I don't know, but i'm usually the guy that goes around screaming "do it to factory".

Here is the exact excerpt in case you want part numbers

75W-90 Castrol Syntorque Synthetic

Mopar Synthetic Manual Transmission Lubricant Mopar P/N 4874459 (Material Specification 9070)

GM Goodwrench® Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid (GM Part No. U.S. 12346190, in Canada 10953477)

Dammit lol missed it by a hair. Oh well as for the specific brand, that's 99.9% of the time in there for manufacturer liability. Really any brand works if it meets specs and aftermarket fluids are generally better anyways
