I had a 200psi 12V air compressor under the hood for a while to provide compressed air to both my horn as well as my rear airbags + 25' hose with tire chuck.

Recently the thing grenaded on me as it was rated at 100% duty cycle, but not really designed for 100% duty. Strange thing, it ran for maybe 30minutes per day just to keep the system topped off. My suspicion, it doesn't matter what they rate it, any oilless compressor in a 12V application is going to fail quickly.

I'm looking for 12V oiled compressors that have a max working pressure of 200PSI rated for 80% duty or greater. Or, like some of the jeeps, an accessory belt driven air compressor is an idea but I can't remember if they replaced the AC compressor to do so.

I'm open to suggestions that don't include a gasoline/diesel or 120/240V compressor. I already have a gas powered air compressor but i'm not hauling that thing around in the bed and starting it all the time just to pressurize my suspension.

The high heat under the hood kills them. I mounted mine in an inverted ammo can under the truck and it's been working fine for over a year so far. The ammo can really seems to protect it and keeps it clean, but is well ventilated too.

That is the cleanest undercarriage I have ever seen on a truck. No off-roading a assume?

I had just bought the truck. Less than 1000 miles on it when I took the pics. I don't do much off roading here, but some of the goat roads down deep in Mexico where I drive it each year are pretty rough...
