I had the same problem. I replaced the O/D button and it switches on and off perfectly now. Super easy to do, but mine's a 99 and I think the overdrive switch on a 94 is on the dash somewhere rather than the shifter. Not sure how easy those are to remove.

You are correct, the 94's have the button on the dash. I've replaced both, and the 94's are super easy to replace. Simply pull the dash cover and unbolt the OD switch and unplug it from the back. The shifter button is a little harder to replace, but I just knocked the hinge pin out and replaced it that way.
