I need to haul about 350 sf of tile. It's about 4500 lbs. Should I play of safe and put it on a trailer or will it travel well in the bed? I can't really understand payload charts tonight.
2001 1500 5.2l. Excab 4wd. It's not a long distance, in town. Thanks

thanks. that was the one I found. I was trying to look at it on my phone.
so the payload number column is the max weight for items in the bed. I got confused with the axle ratings.

so I found out today its not stone, its wood looking ceramic. so it's only 1440 lbs plus pallet.
I think I will still use the trailer b/c me and another guy have to unload it by hand and it will be easier that way. and why load the truck down if it's not needed.

but while on the topic, is there any reason a tall lift would lower the payload and towing ratings? esp, lift blocks?

I don't believe that lift blocks will affect payload much if you are keeping stock suspension components. Now you could do what I did and get somebload leveling shocks. Or you could do like other members and get airbags if you are worried about payload. But if you have a trailer you can use I suggest use that every chance you get. With my shocks I have increased my payload to about 3000# give or take a few hundred. Mainly because I don't have a trailer.

Sent from my liberty x!

I've had about 2k pounds of sakrete in the bed of my truck. She sagged but did fine. I wouldn't have gone any higher just to be safe.

I'm not a big fan of overloading my truck. You're just wearing out the springs and hastening their inevitable sag. Anything over 800 lbs in the bed of a 1500 and you're overloaded. I realize people do it all the time however.

I shouldn't talk then... LOL

But If you know what you axle dry weights are and the GAWR of both front and rear you can detrimine if you can or can't haul it in th bed. 4,000# is a lot of weight so yes at that point it would be a good idea to trailer it.
