I went from 285/75/16 Aturo trailblades (has rims protector) to 275/60/20 BFG ko2 (does not have rim protector.
I do not offroad much but when I do I go easy but my current setup is concerning me. I stuck a 2x4 up against the side wall of the tire and the 20x9 tires only sits behind the sidewall by about 3/4" and the KO2s do not have a rim protector design.
I have 30 days with discount tire to swap into a different tire for minimal charges so im either thinking of going to the duratrac in the same size because it has the rim protector or the much more expensive route would be to go to a 285/60 or 305/55 to gain the extra width to protect the rim. But going to a larger size means E rated tires which is heavier and harder on front susoension/steering ( setup all ready heavy enough being 20" rims).
What is your guys thought on the 275/60/20 duratracs with the rim protector? (This size is only 115s rated not D or E rated so I would lose potential tire/side wall strength)....
