Now I'm looking at going to a 17 so I can get an actual 33" tire.

DI'd you ever take the 20s offroading? I know 18"s would be fine offroading but I don't know about 20s

Oh yeah... The bad thing about the larger wheels is the get more mud on the inside thus throwing you out of balance. I don't really wheel, it's more or less going across my land with the slick red mud that sticks to everything would shake me to death all the way to the car wash. I don't have that issue with the 18's and more tire.

For offroading you'll appreciate the larger sidewalls of the smaller diameter wheel. Allows you to air down more without as much risk to the rim. And softer ride along the rough roads.
On road performance may suffer a bit with larger side walls. But these aren't sports cars

If you plan to take it off road you'll want more tire than wheel. 33" tires the largest wheel I would go is a 17" wheel. Not enough sidewall there to support bouncing and rough terrain with any larger diameter wheel, more likely to not only pop a bead on the wheel but also slash a sidewall. Not to mention the ride around town will suffer from less sidewall because the tire won't have as much flex to it. Going with a street tire will help smooth the ride as the sidewalls in them are a lot softer, but that will hinder your off road capability due to both traction and punctures....and still possible you'll pop a bead. AT's and MT's that are capable of supporting the weight of a full size truck tend to have 2-3 ply sidewalls, which are firm and thick.

Just my 2 cents. I currently run 16x10's on 35's and am looking to bump to 17's on 37's once I pick up the DOR 7" progressive springs and get my Fox shocks I have rebuilt and anodized/painted.

The kind of offroading that I do would never include airing down my tires because at that point I park the truck and get out and walk. Sharp rocks I'll just get out and walk, mud/water over a foot or two I'll walk, etc.

So essentially I only go on somewhat decent trails with the occasional really deep ruts or mud holes

Go to fuel off road's website and use their configurator. Most wheel websites have one you can see their wheels they offer on your truck.

I had both. I really haven't noticed any different other than my tire foam spray can sprays in one pass on the 20" tires than to the two on the 17" tire... LMAO!

I was a 17" die hard for a long time, But seems with these trucks, 20" kind fits bitter I think in looks. But you can't go wrong either way.. 17" would be cheaper!
