So after 4 years with no major problems in this truck, i was on my way home and out of nowhere i lost all power. It was like i turned the key completely off. Luckily i was near a parking lot and managed to pull in with no power steering.

Here is the kick, the truck has been running perfect. I didnt even feel a hesitation at all before it quit. Also, it is not throwing any codes at all. Since it was colder than a witches tit, i only managed to check a few things. It has fuel pressure, and it turns over fine, and i unplugged the MAP sensor to see if i can get it into limp mode (no luck), and checked all the fuses. Everything looks fine it just will not start.

I did put gas in it about 10 minutes prior which leads me to believe i could have gotten bad gas. But not sure if that would cause it to completely die without any signs.

Any insight on this would be great. Tomorrow after work Im going to clean the IAC and see if i can see or find anything else out of the ordinary.

Iac won't cause it to die while driving as it's not in play. Ohm check the coil for 12-15k ohms between the tower and either pin. If that checks good you might want to look at replacing the crank sensor

Swap your ASD (auto shutdown relay) with you ac compressor relay. I had the same thing happen to me and swaping relays fixed it for me.

I'll take a look at that coil when I get home today. Thanks for the heads up on the IAC.

If the ASD was bad wouldn't that cause the fuel pump to not start? I have pressure to the rail right now.

That is correct, the IAC feeds the fuel pump as well.

Well thanks for the info on the ASD relay, when my truck would die it would generally start right back up, only once did it give me a little trouble but that must have been unrelated. Swapping the ASD relay cleared everything up for me.

Just an update on this. Didn't get a chance to look at it yesterday because of snow so this morning I popped the hood to see what was going on. Upon further inspection, the ignition coil wire turned out to be laying on the manifold melted clean through. Popped the old wire off and put a new one on and it fired up. Guess I got lucky on this one thanks for the input guys appreciate it.

It probably was your ASD relay. When they go bad they can overheat and fail to their NO position. Once they cool down they start working properly again. Its one of the many failure modes of a relay. Lucky yours was a cheap fix
