I am going to be putting 2.5 in spacers on my 96 2WD 1500. I am debating on wether to get some method standards or double standards 16" or 17", 8" width. Im sure this question has been asked a million times but I want to make sure that I don't screw up. I want to try and fit 33s with the 8 inch width but I'm not sure if I will be able to clear them. Any help would be much appreciated.

Should be able to just fine. I'm running 285s at stock height, only difference with mine is that I have wheels with less back spacing and only rub the fender liners at full lock.

Do you think that the added width will make a difference in wether I can clear them. It seems like it would give you a bit less room at full lock.

You going with a 285/75, 33/10.50 or 12.50? Stock wheels you'll see some rubbing with each, but more so each width you go up.

I run 285's on my stock height dodge (it is a 4WD, so a bit different) and it doesn't rub at all with stock wheels.
