I have a stock 2000 ram 1500 and my local shop can only get a 5 in. Rough country lift. So at this point thats what i plan on getting. Is it worth it? How noticeable of a lift is 5in? I have 285/75r/16s on it which are just about 33s i presume. Will it look alright til I get so new rims and tires?

It should look okay. Why can they only get Rough Country? There's tons of better kits available for not a whole lot more. Check out Quality Offroad Products Factory Direct | Zone Offroad Products awesome kits and a few members here run it. Worst case scenario order the kit yourself and find a shop to install it if you don't feel comfortable.

As for the height, it's a decent sized. 33's will look alright on it.

Here's mine with a 5" BDS long arm kit.

Well that kinda depends on how tall everyone is. I have a 2.5 inch leveling lift with 285's and the bottom of my door is just above my knees.

And im 5'9

Grab a Jack and tape measure. Measure bottom of truck somewhere, lift 5" and step back

Ok. Well you can go either route then. I was just gonna say that its gonna be more difficult to install a 5 inch rather than a 2.5 inch.

Also, 5 inch lifts have more things that can go wrong. A lot more components. However if you get a nice quality lift than you will be fine. You can go with rough country but there are a lot better ones out there. Nightmares is running a BDS and its a great lift from what ive heard from him.

Op we can help u install it it u feel like doing it yourself, its not that hard and should be able to do it in a day. Yea my kit is a bunch of matched up parts, some i built others i bought. BDS or Fabtech would be my two choices for a good 5" lift.

Installing it yourself will give you a better understanding of how your suspension components work as well. So If something does happen to break in the future you know what to look for and might have an idea of how to fix it.

Rather than taking it to the shop and having them fix it for more $.

I have a zone 5" suspension lift. It's a company owned by BDS but is cheaper than them. I thought it was good quality kit, took me longer to install because I didn't have air so everything came off and went on by wrenching. My truck is in my sig or you can look on my profile for better view.

If you go over 3 inches you start looking at things to extend or drop. (Brake lines, pitman arm etc.)

I like my 2.5 leveling lift. Im running 285's but I pretty sure I could fit 35's. Probably be snug and I would probably have to do some trimming but I think it could be done.
