i have an 97 5.9L with a 3in pro comp lift and 2in leveling kit on 33s currently. i want to get a 5in rough country lift with 35s but i was wondering if i can run the 35s on the 3in lift until i have time to lift my truck. also is it worth regearing to 4.10 gears?

Welcome to RF!!!

Some say they do fit, I have never tried. wheel backspace will most deff play a role in fitting.

Yes 4.10 or 4.56 are your best bet with 35's.

Post up some pix of your truck! We love pix's.

35's with the proper offset rim should fit, as far re-gearing I would most certainly re gear to a 410 with 35's, and if you are not worried about gas mileage I would I would go to 456 they are so much :), if you would like pricing on your lift/tires/or gears reach out to us we would be more than happy to hook you up like we have many other forum members, and always at the lowest prices around :)

Thanks
Jeremiah

I was told regearing to a 4.10 ratio would kill my mpg on the highway. I was told the lower gears make your truck rev way up when you are doing anywhere from 60 to 70 mph. Is this true? I already get 8 mph and bigger tires will def make it worse so i dont want to make it even worse.

Why so bad mileage? 33" are stock on trucks with 20's and I got around 18 highway before I started modding. With stock 20's and 33" stock Goodyear tires.

A 4.56 gear with a 35in tire will put your RPMs back into the stock range with the 4.10s just under it.

so that will keep my rpms right under 2000 in the city and on the high way

It will bring it up to around 23-2500 rpm at 70mph. It would be the same as running 3.55s on stock (245/75) tires.

Op you had pm'd me about my mpg, I am not the best to provide you with that info as I have done a lot to my truck and my speeds traveled are not the average.

But here you go

With 315/75R16 tires and 4.10 gears.

Note: I have also ran 4.56 gears with the same size tire and mpg did not move much at all from the 15 mpg range.

Average speed I travel at is between 50-55 mph 95% all hwy, 95% all mountain driving. That said I get 15-16 mpg, I can't say what I get in the city as I don't live in one.

I get good mpg mainly because I don't travel at 65+mph if I did I would think it would be in the 10 mpg range or less.

In short it all come down to what type of roads you travel on and what speed you drive at.

These trucks were never built to travel at speeds over 65 mph they are a brick in the wind the faster you go the worse it gets.

I have 4.10 gears and 285's, I rev about 1700 rpm at 80 KM/hr. Get about 10-12 mpg, but thats 95% in town mileage. You dont want 3.55 with 35's, in my opinion 35's with 4.10 sucked lol. I wouldnt go lower then 4.56 for 35's on one of these trucks. You cant compare them to the newer ones, newer ones just have so much more power to them.
