I've got 36'' toyo's on my truck. Any suggestions on gear ratios should I change them? What will they do? How much does that usually cost?

Well what do you have for a truck? Depends on your config. If cummins, it doesnt matter. Gas I wouldnt go higher then 4.56.. If its a half ton Id look at getting some Dana 60 axles, D44 sucks and chews through front end parts on bigger tires. Steering really isnt the best for big tires either.

Okay it's a 2001 ram 1500 with the 5.9. So everybody thinks 4.56?

Depends on how you use your truck in my op, but 4.56 or 4.88. Gear sets run about $300 for each set, plus any install parts like bearings and shims (major kits run about $200 each), then there is labour for the install 4hrs for the front and 2-3 for the back. For the front you can go with thick cut gears or you will need a new carrier for the new gear ratio. For the rear there is no need for a new carrier or thick cut gears as the 9.25 has no break point. So about $1500-$3000 for all the parts and work.

Oh wow, that's a bit more than I was expecting. I just sunk $2500 in tires wheels and bull bar. So that might be a bit down the road I appreciate it!

Still cheaper than a new trans in most cases.

That's true is that what I'm looking at if I don't change it soon?

I wouldnt worry about mileage in one of these trucks, shouldnt of bought one if you were lol. They are NOT fuel friendly in anyway!

Your drive train will taxed more then it was ever meant to be and eventually grenade itself, leaving you either needing a complete rear end rebuild or trans rebuild, possibly more. Big tires on stock 3.55 in a Dana44 is just a plain bad idea.

Around what RPM is your truck at on the highway around 70 mph.

And to the original question its really a personal preference. I think I'm going to run 4.11s on mine. I have 37s on my 1500 5.9. I don't like the idea of going too high (or low depending on how you look at it) because of RPM at highway speed.

Those ratios are too high for me personally for highway. And D60s, well I honestly dont feel like it's a necessity. I want to finish with the truck so I can put money into the Nova again

37s on 4.88s is like 35s on 4.56s and 33s on 4.10s. Which are all like 31s on 3.55s.

Only running 4.10s on 37s will cook your transmission and will lug your engine bad, making your gas mileage worse.
