Nope, but putting it closer to it's powerband will help.

Not to sound like a douche, but some of us do know what we're talking about....

*1:1 gear ratio at 65mph. OD on a 46RE is .79:1, so actual rpm will be a tad lower*

You'll be turning around 17-1800 rpms at 65mph. That's pretty much lugging it. To get up ANY hill it's going to have to shift into kick down and that will heat up the transmission real quick and suck gas like a ****.

Yep, you're right. .69:1. Mind misstep. lol Knew it had a 9 in it, that makes it around 1650-1700 rpm me thinks. Here is another chart for you:

Same as the other, 1:1 at 65mph

With 37s and 4.56s you're still in the "yellow" at 2692. At 65mph in 3rd gear? That's not bad. I run around 2500 myself and I'm running 33s and 3.55s.

Gears are an expensive and time consuming mistake if you end up with something you don't like. They're not like a muffler where you're out 100 bucks....

Around what RPM is your truck at on the highway around 70 mph.

And to the original question its really a personal preference. I think I'm going to run 4.11s on mine. I have 37s on my 1500 5.9. I don't like the idea of going too high (or low depending on how you look at it) because of RPM at highway speed.

I am running about 2000 rpm to 2100 rpms at 70 but from what I have been reading dana 60 is over kill for me considering what I do with the truck. I'm kind of leaning towards 4.56's

I've got it sorted out with prices and such. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get 4.56. And I have the right connections to get them for free :D
