Hey guys I want to add a lift to my truck. I'm hoping to go over 3 inches. I'm looking for something that wont break the bank entirely. also I already need to shocks.... the current ones are showing signs of rust and are missing some of the sheet metal

Need a budget before I make a suggestion as to what route to take parts wise.

2WD is gonna be a ***** to lift, especially 2500. I think the most you'll be able to justify will be about 2 inches.

hey guys I'm thinking on doing a custom 1" lift from hockey pucks as others have done. I just want to know if I need to lengthen the steering column.

Have we gone back to the 70's-80's!!! No please no, tell me this is not still done. We did this back when I was 16 and it does not last, it is not safe.

Just buy a kit. Look for a 1" coil spacer and add one leaf to the rear pack.

Dont do that.

Buy an add a leaf for the rear or a 1" taller block, leafs the preferred method.

kid at my school once took a 6in piece of PVC, and put multiple smaller PVC tubes inside of it to make a 6in body lift. truck literally fell apart like 3 months later when he curb checked a curb.

I'm gonna go with this idea - coil spacer and either an add-a-leaf or blocks

Daystar sells 1.5" and 2" front spacers. I know on the 2WD 1500s with the 1.5" you can get 285/75r16 on with no rubbing with the right wheels.

a local auto parts shop carries all the parts I need for cheap.
Also with a 1 - 2 inch lift would I have to extend my steering column? and if so then how can I do it safely but cheaply..... as I have to pay out some cash to the sheriffs office

OMFG. WTF was he thinking... bet insurance just killed him for that!

Thanks. was really hoping that the answer was no. Didn't really want to have to work on the steering column

Nope no steering column work as said.
