Hello everyone...new to the forum. I just inherited a 1997 Ram 1500 Sport 2WD, extended cab with many miles. The truck needs to new tires-dry rotted from sitting. I have googled around but was unable to confirm what the correct oem tire size. When I looked at tires for sale, the recommended sizes for that year (245 or 275) are not are what on the truck right now. I really just want the stock size info. My truck does not have any stickers on the door jamb either.

My truck wheels look like the one at this truck (random google search):
1997 Bright White Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie SLT Extended Cab 4x4 #14160200 | GTCarLot.com - Car Color Galleries

Besides, the stock size question. What is the biggest tire that can go on the truck (not lifted).

Thanks!

Stock is 95% of the time 245/75/16. Some came with 265/75/16 and offroad editions (00/01) had 275/70/17? iirc.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know how much bigger I can go on stock rim/suspension?

2wd Tyler. Not 4wd.

225/75R16 is factory tire sized for that era of truck. Couldn't tell you how much larger you could go, maybe 245/75R16 would be my guess as to the largest.

285/75R16 fits a leveled 2wd, so 31" sounds pretty good stock. 245/75R16, 265/70R16 or 275/70R16

225? Really Nightmare? Maybe if it was a V6 work truck.
Most common on 2WD was 245/75-16. The biggest you can go is 265, and that's an optional factory size

And 285s do not fit a leveled 2WD, I have witnessed this first hand. Owner had to cut into the fender liners to clear.
